Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB) located in Oakville, Ontario serves a student population of 29,000 students across 51 schools. Halton CDSB utilizes the full suite of the SRB product line including L4U - Library Automation Made Easy!, StudentsAchieve - Student's Success, Trillium - Student Information System and BAS 2000 for finance and purchasing. Over the coming months and years this school board will benefit from integration with these products. For example, patron updates in their SIS, Trillium, will be automatically integrated with the L4U software, and correlations between student success and library usage could be reported on by administrators and shared with parents and teachers, involving everyone who plays a role in the student's success.

 

L4U Guru

Dear L4U Guru:
I have updated my software to the latest version, and now when I log in, I get to the Log In screen, where it asks me to enter my Client Code and PIN. Can you please tell me how to set it up, or where to find it?

Concerned Librarian

Dear Concerned Librarian,
There a few steps to ensure that you can login with your own client code into L4U.

1. The very first thing to do is login using the client code "Items" and PIN "Items".
2. At the homeroom screen, click Add
3. Give the homeroom a code of "Admin"
4. Homeroom Name "Library Administration"
5. Set the Access Level to "items" or "books" depending on what you have in the list
6. Click Save
7. Close the Homeroom Management Screen
8. Go to Functions > Clients
9. If you already have yourself in the system as a client, open up your record by double clicking your name. If not, add yourself in.
10. Change your Homeroom to "Admin"
11. Click on the Additional Info Tab - In the available spot for PIN type what you would like your PIN to be.
12. Take note of the Client Code and PIN.
13. Save and click File - Change Password Level
14. Enter your new client code and PIN
15. Click Verify

L4U Headquarter Based Training
A great opportunity for the L4U trainees to meet our talented staff and take a tour of the the L4U headquarters. We have classes in both January and March 2009. Classes include handouts, refreshments and lunch.

 

Online Training
Our online training allows you to learn from the convenience of your own computer, without incurring any travel expenses. You do not need L4U open or even on the computer for the training session. We use our installation of L4U and present via the Internet. Cost effective, targeted training lets you choose what and when you learn. L4U Software offers the following Online Training options:

Premium Online Training - One and a half hour specialized sessions, with limited class sizes to allow for interaction with the trainer. Our topics include L4U Essentials, a School Library Closure Workshop and new topics dealing with L4U Backup and L4U Preventative Maintenance. Enrollment information and upcoming dates are available through Client Corner.

Personal Online Training - One on one classes with maximum interaction with the trainer, on topics that best suit your needs & schedule. It's like having the trainer sitting beside you. Screen sharing with the instructor and vice versa delivers the best value for your time. Book a session for your librarians for your next Pro-Day.
