Phonetic 'Sounds Like' Searching

An essential feature for younger students is the L4U iPAC's Sounds Like Search. Receiving negative or limited search results can often discourage younger students from using the library search stations. The L4U 'Sounds Like' search forgives misspellings and displays a list of accurate results.

For example, typing the word 'telafone' into the text field and clicking on 'SoundsLike' will display all of the items in the library containing a keyword of 'telephone'.

Visual Searching

With L4U iPAC's Picture Search, students can find items by simply clicking on the appropriate graphic. Although many picture search graphics are supplied with L4U Platinum's library software, additional pictures can be added to the Picture Library at any time.

Graphically Represent Loan Types

Help your students find materials quickly and easily by color coding or graphically representing loan types. Graphics or symbols can be added to your loan type file. Students can quickly find their items in your catalog by looking for the corresponding symbol on your library shelves.

Our students have really embraced Library 4 Universal. Unlike the card catalog, children are excited and eager to look for materials. Using the custom-made library cards, they conduct an online search, find the material on the shelves, and circulate their own books, freeing my assistant and I to work with individuals and groups on other projects. L4U is so powerful, yet user friendly. It has empowered our teachers and students to circulate their own materials and find the resources they need quickly and easily. I cannot imagine using any other library automation software.
